27 January 1873. The implementation of new fertilising procedure has already yielded significant results to the positive. The harvest should be outstanding, I am convinced that with careful analysis it is possible to not only predict the growth pattern of kelp and other vegetation, but in fact to control it! Further testing, however, is still required.

1873年1月27日 新しく導入した栽培方法は、すでに大きな成果を上げている。また、収穫量は大幅に増えたはずだ。注意深く分析すれば、海藻やその他の植物の成長パターンを予測できるだけでなく、その成長を制御することも可能だと確信している。だが、さらなる検証が必要である。

Kelp growth within the basket structure has significantly increased the average given of a kelp stalk and permits the growth of nearly one third more plants within each field.

カゴの中で海藻を育てることで、茎の平均的な長さが大幅に伸び、各ブロックで栽培量を約3割増やすことを可能にした。

The open mesh of the containment basket permits small kelp particles to return to replant them r– on the ocean floor from chance they came.

カゴには網目状の穴が空いており、海藻の欠片が海底に落ちることで、新たな苗を植えることが出来る。

30 January 1873. To say that I am astounded at the abundance of the kelp harvest should only hint at my satisfaction with this venture. In barely these days since one last rejourn into this field, the growth has nearly doubled! Imagin, a world that knows not of hanger. Now I know that it is possible!

1873年1月30日 海藻の収穫量の多さには驚かされるばかりで、この結果に満足していることは言うまでもない。前回からわずか数日で、2倍近くまで成長した。餓えから解放された世界を想像してみてくれ。いま私はそれが可能であることを確信している。

3 February 1873. The harvest is complete. As satisfied as I was to see acres of kelp ranging in the gentle current of this undersea farm, I am equally humbled to see these same acres this day, d– of their beauty, yet strangely peaceful in their barren beauty.

1873年2月3日 収穫が完了した。この水中農園の穏やかな流れの中で、何エーカーもの海藻が広がっているのを見て満足したのと同じように、今日同じ農園の美しさを見ながら、(収穫を終えた)不毛な美しさの中で不思議なほど安らかな気持ちになった。
